Tanzanite is one of the world's rarest gemstones—found in only one place on Earth: the Merelani Hills of Tanzania. It was discovered in 1967, making it younger than your grandmother's jewelry collection.
What makes tanzanite extraordinary is its pleochroism—it shows different colors when viewed from different angles. Rotate a tanzanite stone and watch it shift from blue to violet to burgundy. This optical phenomenon makes each viewing unique.
